Hi there!
Hope you are well! Can you believe it’s November?!
We had a blast at PorchFest LA! Thanks all who came and enjoyed and performed!
Wanted to share about (1) updates for the Los Feliz Writers Festival 2026, (2) our weekly writing session, and (3)some cool writer events happening in our community.
1. Los Feliz Writers Festival 2026
We have chosen the date for the next festival! Save the date for August 21-23, 2026!
In January, we will start having monthly planning committee meetings on the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30pm to 6:30pm before our weekly Shut Up and Write at the Alcove. If you are interested in joining, please respond to this email and I’ll add you to the email list!
2. Weekly Events
Wednesdays, 6:30pm to 8:30pm, The Alcove, Los Feliz
We’ve done four Shut Up and Write in Los Feliz at the Alcove, and it’s been great. It’s lovely to see the same people each week and to write and hang out together.
We arrive around 6:30pm and get our food, around 7pm we check in and then write (or any type of work – even writing emails or coding!) for 1 hour until 8pm! Then we check out, and then hang out.
You’re always welcome! Come when you can. Email me if you want me to send you a reminder every week!
Can sign up on meetup too or just show up.
3. November Events
There are some awesome events happening in November by people in our Los Feliz Writers community!
If you want to go but are nervous to go alone, message me and I’ll try to connect you with people or I’ll be going and we can go together!
November 14, 6:30pm, Off The Charts Dispensary, West Hollywood
A spoken word, live music, and Chef-catered bites with good, high vibes hosted by The Poesers, Candice Margarita, and Alexa Wise (who hosted our porch at PorchFest LA! and performed at Voices of Los Feliz!).
November 14, 7pm, Bel Ami, Chinatown
A reading with our very own Alex Moreno, who performed at our Voices of Los Feliz celebration!
November 17, 7pm, Bar Covell, Los Feliz
A poetry night with featured poets, an open mic and a house band!
This event is hosted by Derrick Brown, our Poet Laureate of Los Feliz alongside Linda Ravenswood and Super Space Nation (the houseband!) who are all part of our Los Feliz community.
We have 7 tickets left!
November 18, 6:30pm, Stories, Echo Park
Alex Moreno, who performed at our Voices of Los Feliz, is celebrating the launch of her first poetry collection Sticky Time (published by Sunflower Station Press!!)
November 19, 6:30pm, The Alcove, Los Feliz
Sammy and Brian will be doing a special Shut Up and Write to celebrate World Toilet Day! They’ll share some optional prompts about toilets, and then invite participants to submit to The Feminist Toilet.
If you’d like to share an event or resource with the community or if you’d like to be listed on our Los Feliz Writers database, please email me. Trying to send out an email once a month as life allows :P.
Please forward this to any of your friends that may find it valuable and please let me know if you don’t find this valuable and want to be removed from the list.
Thank you!
Sammy
