The great return of cake sculpture artist SCOTT HOVE most known for his work of CAKELAND in DTLA is upon us! Joined by local artist WINI BREWER with her series Aesthetic Strategies and ceramicist SUSIE KETCHUM and her folk art masks filled with mystery and HORROR.

September 12 until November on Thurs and Sats at LA MAG In everything there is the trace (2013) participatory artwork
In everything there is the trace (2013) is a participatory artwork by Susan Silton that invites visitors to become part of the work itself. During scheduled one-hour sessions, participants gather around a circular table to collectively retype Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower (1993) on manual typewriters using stencil mode, in other words without ink.

Join Nicole Levin for the release of her newest book – “Diary of A Mad Girl; Me Vs. The Oil Industry Vs. My Nonprofit Job.”
Nicole Levin is an artist and environmental organizer living in Los Feliz. Raised in Fairfield, California, Levin studied environmental science at Harvard, and her work reflects contemporary social anxieties in a conscious, poignant voice—with a hearty portion of Jewish humor.
Her writing has appeared in The New Yorker and The Harvard Crimson, and she has written for The Harvard Lampoon as well as the television series Lethal Weapon. Professionally, Levin previously worked at Sierra Club helping lead campaigns to phase out urban oil drilling in Los Angeles.
Most recently, she has devoted her time to completing an all-white 1,000-piece puzzle. She lives in Southern California with the love of her life, Nina.
September 16-October 21 at a restaurant in Los Feliz, Fiction Writing Workshop from 6pm to 8pm facilitated by Shannon Cain
Announcing two new MFA-level workshops for writers of fiction, nonfiction, and hybrid prose. Space is limited to 6 participants each. We meet weekly on Wednesdays or Thursdays at a restaurant in East Hollywood/Los Feliz. At the introductory rate of $395 for 6 weeks you’ll join craft conversations and give and receive feedback from other serious writers. We are informed by anti-racist workshop pedagogy. Facilitated by Shannon Cain, former MFA faculty and multiple award winning author whose memoir is forthcoming next June from @canongatebooks. Admission is by application!

September 6 at 11am to 4pm in Farm Cup Coffee West Hollywood Lit Next Door
Your favorite local writers, all in the same book fair. Come enjoy the hyperlocal lit scene, get your fortunes read, browse used books, and bump to immaculate vibes over a full service espresso bar. Decorate a parcel of books for a faraway friend. Stay at 2pm for a lit reading by featured writers. It’s going to be an amazing time and you’ll be sorry you missed it.

Heat Vision is about looking closely at the warmth, urgency, and possibility already living within us and our communities. It’s about seeing through the fire and honoring what calls for our attention while imagining the future we want to build together.
Open mic sign-ups begin at 4:30 PM and will be lottery-based so everyone has a fair chance to take the stage. 🙌
September 9 at The Elysian at 9pm in Elysian Valley, Spoon River Anthology (Clown Poetry)
The year is 1915. Edgar Lee Masters writes a collection of free verse poems, imagined as epitaphs from the residents of Spoon River. These dramatic monologues delivered from beyond the grave speak of the most tragic circumstances: untimely death. Indiscretions. Infidelity. Blasphemy. Love. Hate.
On 9/9 at 9pm, an ensemble of clowns will present a selection of poems from the Spoon River Anthology in a breathtaking clown melodrama, with live music accompaniment.

September 11-19 at Stephanie Feury Studio in Hollywood, The Flowers Keep Watch (Play)
An evening of 5 supernatural one act plays written and directed by Sharon Yablon, featuring actors from the Los Angeles theater scene and original music.

September 12 at East Los Angeles Civic Center from 10am to 4pm, East Los Book Festival
Free book festival with main stage authors, book signings, live readings, vendor markets, and kids stages! Presented by The Goddess Mercado and Legacy Publishing.
Candice and Jennifer (who performed at Los Feliz Writers Festival 2026) will be performing!
The festival is free with free parking!
September 12 at College of the Canyons from 10am to 4pm The Santa Clarita Book Festival

September 18 at Scribble (Highland Park) at 7:30pm Nicole Levin’s Book Release Show!
Join Nicole Levin for a party to celebrate the release of her new book – “Diary of a Mad Girl; Me Vs. The Oil Industry Vs. My Nonprofit Job.” Nicole is starting a punk band to perform themes from the book and will be joined by music legend Pacing and climate activists with calls to action!
